Southwood Baptist Church was an independent Baptist congregation that met in southwest Fort Worth, Texas. The congregation no longer meets. It later took a different name and moved out of the city; that successor congregation has since closed as well, and a different and unrelated church now uses the building. The congregation has closed.
This site is not affiliated with any currently operating church. It offers historical information only and does not provide current service times, directions or congregational support.
A name that is easy to confuse
An unrelated Southwood Baptist Church exists elsewhere in the United States, and search engines regularly merge the two records. This site concerns only the Fort Worth congregation and should not be taken as a source of information about any other church sharing the name. Similarly, a number of business-directory sites still carry a listing for the Fort Worth church built from a decade-old record. Those listings are stale, not evidence that the congregation is still meeting.
Editorial boundaries
Unestablished details are left unstated. There is no founding year given here, for instance, and the only statement about the congregation's age is its own description of a history spanning about three decades, reported as such.
Several categories of material are deliberately excluded:
- Personal contact details and directions that could point readers to a building the congregation left years ago and which another church now uses.
- Personal names. Ministers, staff, volunteers and members are described by role where necessary, without identifying living private people.
